The day started like usual with an early morning dog walk. We walked for about 1/2 hour and were headed back, when we passed a trailer in our rv park, and this shepard mix dog came after BJ. It happened so fast we had no time to pick him up, before we knew it the dog had bit BJ and was shaking him and wouldn't let him go, the owner finally got the dog to let go of BJ. We hurried home and took him to the vet, where he spent the day having surgery. Now he has stitches and a drain tube in his back hind quarters. He also has stitches on his belly and as Ricky would call it, his petty. The guard on his head is to keep him from trying to take out the drainage tube, which will come out friday. We were really lucky that the dog didn't kill him. I guess we will be cautious around big dogs from now on. The owner of the dog just stopped by and wanted to know how BJ was doing and felt really bad that he had to have surgery and offered to pay the vet bill. Dixie doesn't know what to think of the situation, she looked for BJ all day and when he got home she was afraid of the collar on his head, so she is hiding.

Hi there-
We are so sorry to hear about BJ. Maddie is just commenting on how glad she is that she carried DIxie everywhere. She is wondering if that is something you might consider doing in the future. She thinks this would be a REALLY great idea. She thinks that when we come to visit, she is going to make sure that Ricky carries BJ everywhere too!
We miss you!
Rick and Maddie
We are now going to have to call your dogs.... DIXIE and DIXLESS! :<) :<0 It's amazing the things you think about while running!
Kris did not make that last comment - you have to know that it was Rick. I am going to cut him off of my account if he keeps making inappropriate comments!
So sorry to hear about BJ. We hope he is making a fast recovery. CC says "hi" and hopes to see BJ and Dixie again soon.
